Caroline Zucker is experienced and proven as a successful leader, and is a candidate for re-election to the Sarasota County School Board.  At this critical time of economic and employment uncertainty, there can be no more important elective office in this County than that which oversees the education of our young and adult learners!  As one of the most experienced members of the Sarasota County School Board, serving 13 years (1992-2000 & 2006-present), Caroline has established herself as a leader during a period in which the Board has: (1) successfully closed the achievement gap for all students, (2) lowered dropout rates and improved graduation rates, and (3) generally increased our graduates’ readiness for college and for workplace success. This has been accomplished simultaneously with a period of conservative fiscal policies and accountability (overhead costs have been reduced by $120 million in only the last four years).

As many Sarasota voters know, chief among Caroline’s skills is the ability to work successfully with a variety of people and help build consensus. Florida’s funding formula is unique in the United States, and the state needs proven, experienced school board members to ensure that the legislative changes taking place represent the best practices for education.   Caroline Zucker understands that systemic change will continue to be needed to move the educational system forward.  Her experience as a corporate business manager, business owner, community volunteer and grandmother has given her a strong foundation from which to make decisions and advocate for our students.

Caroline’s community involvement ranges from a multitude of state organizations associated with her School Board role, to the Mental Health & Substance Abuse consortium, Juvenile Justice Circuit 12 Board and local Council, Business & Economic Development Advisory Board in North Port. These experiences, and many others, give her a unique perspective on the needs and what will work in our County.

“WHY CAROLINE ZUCKER?”

The economic slowdown has already caused education funding to be substantially reduced.  We cannot afford to make a mistake in these troubled times.  Make your vote count, elect a responsible, respected, seasoned leader.  With more than 14 year’s proven experience, Caroline Zucker needs to continue to play a vital role in the future of our district.  “I know that the next term will not be a ‘walk in the park’ but I am ready to face the task to ensure that all students will have an equal opportunity for a quality education.”
